The grand snowplow naming contest!

Five snowplows. Five wards. Five new names.

This fall, we're asking County of Brant residents to help name five snowplows, with one plow representing each ward.

Whether your idea is clever, funny or uniquely Brant, we want to hear it. Submit a name for your ward, then come back and vote for your favourites to help choose the winners!

How it works

1. Submit a name

Think you've got the perfect snowplow name? County of Brant residents of all ages can submit one name for the plow representing their ward.

Names can be up to 20 characters, including spaces and punctuation, so names can fit on the plow.

Not sure which ward you live in? Visit our ward map webpage to find your ward before submitting.

Submissions close Friday, October 9, 2026.

2. We create the shortlist

Once submissions close, County staff will review the entries and create a shortlist of eligible names for each ward.

Names must meet the contest rules below to move forward to the community vote.

3. You vote

The final naming options will be posted beginning Monday, October 26, 2026.

Then it's your turn again. You can vote for your favourite shortlisted name in every ward. Voting closes Friday, November 6, 2026.

Winners will be announced Monday, November 9, 2026. The top name in each ward will become the new name of one of our County snowplows.

5 wards. 5 winners.

Winners will be announced Monday, November 9, 2026.

What do the winners receive?

Winning a snowplow naming contest comes with some serious bragging rights.

Each winner will:

  • Receive a road sign featuring their winning plow name.
  • Be invited to a special photo opportunity with the newly named plow and members of our Roads team.
  • Enjoy hot chocolate and treats with us before the plows head out for the winter season.

The photo opportunity is expected to take place during a clear weather window in November or December. We'll provide winners with details once plans are confirmed.

For winners under 18, a parent or guardian will need to provide permission before the County takes or shares photos of the winner.

We encourage residents to submit their own name ideas. If a submission represents a group, please keep in mind that only a limited number of group members can take part in the winner experience.
