Properties that are currently privately serviced will receive a new water and/or sanitary service. Connection fees will be determined based on final construction costs. Further information about new water and sanitary connections will be provided to property owners in 2022.
A per-construction public meeting was held before construction began, allowing property owners to meet with County staff and the contractor to discuss the details of the project and reasonable measures that can be taken to mitigate impacts on day-to-day business.
Road Closure Notice: Please be advised that Laurel Street will be closed during working hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. There is no detour route. Will and damage done to paved driveways and any gardens close to the road be put back to how they were?

Response:
In most circumstances, construction is confined to the road corridor, with minimal work on private property to match existing grades. Any disturbed driveways are restored to the property line with new asphalt and lawns are restored with either seed or sod. If any works are proposed on privately owned lands, the County will consult directly with the affected land owner.
Thank you,
M. Maxwell, P. Engineer

Will residents on septic be forced to connect to the sewer? I recently put in a new septic system less than a year and a half a go and ask if there were plans to put in public services. I was told no by both the building department and public works departments. If I am not forced to connect will I be taxed on sewer even though I am not connected?
Thank you

Thank you for your interest in the Laurel Street project. The sewer could be available for connections to existing homes as early as fall 2021. County staff are currently reviewing the connection requirements, including whether mandatory connections will be recommended for County Council’s consideration. Owners with unique situations (such as the one you’ve noted) will certainly be taken into consideration. Further information will be provided to directly affected property owners when it is available.
